Apple's MacBook AirApple's MacBook Air purports to be the world's thinnest laptop. The MacBook Air is ultrathin, ultraportable, and ultra unlike anything else apparntly. But when Apple boast that it can fit inside a manila envelope, I say so what? My requirements for a laptop (or any device) are that it fulfils its purpose, and the purpose of my laptops isn't to fit inside small envelopes. Anyway, here are the specs: this laptop has a full size, full feature keyboard and a 13.3 inch widescreen LED display. If ever you need to use it in the dark, there is backlit key illumination for all your covert internet surfing needs. The large trackpad supports multi touch gestures (no, not those - see Apple's web site for a quick tutorial). The hard drive is 1.8 inch and holds 80GB (same as the iPod Classic). Gasp - there is no optical media! I guess including an optical drive would have meant a bigger envelope. You can buy an external, but it's not going in that envelope. The MacBook Air weighs only 3lbs (obviously it would weigh more if it actually came with an optical drive) |
